What we do
BITERAP is an association of legal entities. As a self-financed association, BITERAP has been bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, colleges/universities, research institutes, public institutions and sectoral enterprises in the region of Slovakia and beyond since its establishment in 2004. The thematic focus of the cluster is on contemporary and future technological trends in the context of the bioeconomy. BITERAP, as a partner in close cooperation with the Centre of Excellence of the Forestry and Forestry Complex (LignoSilva) and the Slovak Centre for Digital Innovations, also offers direct access to national and European topics.
Cluster priority areas
The primary objectives of the association’s work include expanding and strengthening the region’s digital and green transformation, as well as advancing biotechnology. This is done in close cooperation with national and regional partners. BITERAP also supports the marketing of the regions. As a public platform for information, communication and collaboration, and by participating in and organising industry events, the association supports the regional, national and international networking of its members. We actively encourage participation in development programmes. Close economic relations between the association’s members drive innovation forward.
Certificates
In 2021 BITERAP was repeatedly (for the third time) awarded the Bronze label – Cluster Management Excellence in cooperation with the Cluster Management Benchmarking Exercise provided by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) within the VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH. In 2021 BITERAP joined the European Cluster Partnerships Cluster Partnerships
Biterap was awarded within the national performance assessment in February 2025 in partnership with SIEA Clusters in Slovakia, and it received a classification of Moderately Advanced Cluster.
We would like to express our thanks to all the members of the cluster and the cluster management team, as well as the SIEA staff for their cooperation and information necessary to report the activities for the past period and to evaluate the cluster. We believe that the positive evaluation of the cluster will help the BITERAP cluster to obtain projects from the calls of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic
